Unfortunately our kittenpolicy is copied by people who can't be futher away from the way we work.
So one more: there's a copyright on these lines and they are written by ME and formed by OUR experience over the years.
This page is made for people who have interest in our kittens.We do ask you to read this carefully.Can you agree with our 'demands' , and are you feeling happy with them and us, please do contact us.
We do, however, expect an email with something in it saying about how the possible future home of our little cuddle balls is. Emails not containing this info will be answered with the question to do so. ;)
Aren't you feeling happy with our 'demands', than we asdvise you to look for other catteries. We don't change our 'demands' (for example let someone buy a pet kitten and let them do just 1 litter with it)..
Our little ones are very much loved by us, and we spend much of our time raizing them and love them. We feel it's our responcibility to make sure they will get at least the same in their new home.
We have the right to cancel the sale at any moment, if we think it's nesseccary.
Just as the buyer has this right. But, if you've changed your mind, we would like to know, instead of you don't pick up the phone or don't answering emails.

Wat verwachten wij van nieuwe eigenaren?
Laten we beginnen met iets heel simpels.. We gaan er vanuit, als je bij ons aan de bel trekt voor een kittentje, al je huisgenoten erachter staan. Het is voor ons, jullie en zeker ook het kittentje geen goede situatie als het kittentje na een jaar weer verplicht moet verhuizen omdat men erachter komt dat een kittentje gewoon een dier is en ja.. dus wel eens iets kapot maakt. Wil je dit niet, koop dan liever een pluche kat.
Hieruit voort vloeiend, verwachten wij van toekomstige huisjes dat zij reeele verwachtingen hebben. Katten blijven katten, ook Ragdolls. Iedere Ragdoll heeft zijn/haar eigen karakter. Dit is wat ons betreft juist erg leuk en charmant..
Maar hou er dus rekening mee.. niet iedere kat zoekt het om op te zitten en pootjes te geven als jij dat wil. Of te knuffelen als het jou uitkomt.
Uiteraard willen we nieuwe baasjes die de katjes heel veel liefde geven. De katjes absoluut niet afsluiten van de dagelijkse gang van zaken en de katjes gewoon in huis leven, met de rest van het gezin. Een plekje waar de kat zich terug kan trekken indien er drukke visite komt of dat soort dingen is natuurlijk helemaal geweldig en geen probleem, maar we zien liever niet dat de katjes de hele dag op een apart kamertje moeten leven ofzo.
Ook plaatsen we geen kittentje alleen bij mensen die beide full time werken. Als daar een vriendje is in de vorm van een andere kat, maakt het weer heel anders. Dan moeten echter wel de karakters bij elkaar passen. Ook mensen die de Ragdoll persee als enig huisdier willen houden, zijn niet geschikt voor onze kittentjes. Menselijk gezelschap is leuk, maar sommige Ragdolls hebben behoefte aan meer(met een andere kat kun je immers ruiger spelen als met je mensen). En als dit duidelijk wordt, verwachten we van de eigenaren hieraan gehoor te geven.
De Ragdoll is geen kat voor het buitenleven. Onze katjes mogen dan ook niet vrij naar buiten. Een afgeschermd balkon of ren of zelfs aan een tuigje buiten wandelen is natuurlijk geen enkel probleem.
We gaan er vanuit dat onze kittentjes goed voer krijgen en de nodige medische hulp als dit nodig is. Hier hoort ook hij dat een kittentje niet mishandeld mag worden! Hieronder valt voor ons ook het ontnagelen (dat trouwens een verboden ingreep is, en zeer verminkend is, maar helaas nog wel gebeurd) maar ook die nagelkapjes. Die zijn voor ons net zo erg als ontnagelen. Als je een kat in huis neemt, moet er erbij nemen dat een kat met het spelen of rennen wel eens een kras op je bank maakt.. zelfs als de nageltjes geknipt zijn. Wil je dit niet, neem dan geen kat, ipv de kat te gaan mishandelen.
Bij een goede behandeling van uw katje hoort wat ons betreft ook vachtverzorging. Klitten zijn erg pijnlijk en trekken aan de huid. Het bijhouden van de vacht is dus ook belangrijk. En ja, ook de Ragdoll haart ;) Zeker in de 2 rui periodes in het jaar.
We gaan er ook vanuit dat als je een kittentje van ons wil, dat dit voor het hele leven van het kittentje is. Niet alleen maar totdat het kitten zijn er vanaf is. Of totdat je kittentje draadjes door gaat bijten (dan verveelt je kat zich en wordt het tijd voor nieuwe speeltjes/spelletjes) . Natuurlijk zijn er altijd omstandigheden te bedenken dat het niet meer gaat... maar onze kittentjes zijn geen wegwerp-artikelen.
Mocht het zo zijn dat het kittentje echt niet kan blijven, mag het niet zonder dat wij ervan weten herplaatst worden. Elk kittentje blijft nl een kittentje van ons en dus belangrijk voor ons.
Deze tekst is niet om je af te schrikken, maar wel om je goed na te laten denken over het aanschaffen van een kat en in het bijzonder een kittentje van ons. Onze kittentjes zijn geen wegwerp-artikelen of status-symbolen. Onze kittentjes zijn dieren met gevoelens.. en die verdienen alleen maar de beste huisjes.
Wij verwachten ook van nieuwe eigenaren dat ze zo af en toe eens laten weten hoe het met onze ukkies gaat (foto's zijn zeeeerrr gewaardeerd ;) ). Dit hoeft zeker niet iedere week of iedere maand... maar helemaal nooit meer iets horen... daar kunnen we niet zo goed tegen ;). Natuurlijk zullen we je ook niet in je nek gaan zitten hiervoor... maar als het echt lang duurt, wel een poging wagen ;)
Bij het eerste contact verwachten we een voorstel mailtje. Mailtjes met alleen "wat moet het kosten" worden niet serieus genomen. Tuurlijk mag de vraag gesteld worden wat de kittentjes kosten, maar als dat het enige is in het mailtje, is wat ons betreft de prijs het belangrijkste.. En volgens ons moet dit niet zo zijn. We willen graag wat meer weten over een eventueel toekomstig huisje zodat we kunnen kijken of het een eventuele match zou kunnen zijn. Ook verwachten we van mensen dat ze minstens 2! keer naar hun kitten komen kijken. De eerste keer is vaak voor de eerste indruk. De tweede keer om te kijken of te klik er nog is. Ook voor het kittentje!.
Wij brengen de kittentjes altijd naar hun nieuwe huisje om daarmee ook meteen het eventuele nieuwe huisje te kunnen beoordelen. Niet dat het ooit gebeurd is, maar als we bv veel meer huisdieren aantreffen dan gezegd is of het kittentje moet in de ren gaan zitten etc, zullen we het kittentje weer veilig mee naar huis nemen. We werken op een basis van vertrouwen, wordt het vertrouwen beschaamd, is wat ons betreft de basis voor het plaatsen van een kittentje weg.
What do you get with your kitten?
Our dolls are ready to leave our homes if they are at least 16 weeks old and are;
* Well socialized.
* mutiple times dewormed.
* 2 times shots (to abroad the kittens are also getting a rabies shot.. and have to stay a bit longer).
* Chipped.
* Have had an anti flea product.
* Are neutered.(It's not possible to make any exceptions for pet kittens)
* Have a EU passport, pedigree(BTF), proof of ownership and a TICA registration.
* Selling contract.
* Copies of the testresults from the parents.
* A link to their online album with pictures from birth.
* A kittenbox with a bit of food they are getting here.
* The rest of the time the other contents of this box are changing
* And if possible being brought home to make sure they have a nice and smooth transition to their new home.
* The lilac and chocolate kittens from chocolate and/or lilac parents will get the DNA test from their parents. (cause these kittens can only be lilac or chocolate and all our parents are DNA tested.) Lilac and Chocolate kittens from other prarents will get a DNA test result with them, to prove they are true lilac and chocolate. (All our kittens will be at least chocolate carriers, therefore we will not do a DNA test to proove they are carriers)
Kittens for breeding
We won't be selling kittens for breeding anymore. No exceptions possible.
This for the following reasons:
The last years we've got some new (for us unkown) lines. These lines are very precious and usefull, we're aware of that. But we want to get to know these lines. Their good points but also their bad. We also want to see first how kittens of various combinations will grow and how their development into adulthood is.
If we think we know enough.. then we can, if a breeder is seriously interested, tell this breeder good enough where the bad points are and what kind of partner their kitten needs. We feel this is the way to develop the ragdoll in a good way, and also this is the fair way towards other breeders.
Till the day we're able to do this, we will not sell any kittens for breeding.
This seems to be a strange reason, but we love the breed so much, we don't like to just make more kittens. We want to improve the breed and help the breed and not just making kittens. And we feel we can only to this by getting to know all the inns and outs of your lines and knowing how to improve them.
The second and biggest reason: Unfortunately there are still breeders out there that won't honor the contract they have signed and understood well. They even will say to 'go to hell' with the contract when they have your kitten. We find this horrible.. It makes us sick to our stomach. We make the contracts to protect our kittens, their offspring and the Ragdoll breed. Unfortuntaly we have to had the experience how bad some breeders can be. (if you want to know which breeder will not honor your contracts, please contact us. We have no problem in telling you this.
Untill this changes, we won't be selling any kittens for breeding any more. There are a few catteries to whom we trust our kittens, but we won't be telling you why. Cause bad people can also use that for the bad reasons.
This doesn't mean we don't like to help new breeders. But if we help you, make sure you don't think breeding just is putting a boy with a girl. ;)
Our cattery
We don't use cages in our cattery. all our cats life in our home like pets.. And are our pets. The males have their own space if a female is in heat or we aren't at home. Otherwise also the males live in our home. (except for Bear, he loves to be in the enclosed outside area. So he has his own living area, but is able to have contact with us and the others.)
We are a non smoking cattery. Also the guests coming here, are not allowed to smoke. Please pay attention: If you're a smoker, your pet's also!
Our kittens are born in a seperate room. Here we have video, so we can watch the kittens 24 hours a day. This to make sure mommy and the kitties can have their rest and not have somebody budding in the whole time. If the kittens are born, moomy is allowed to leave the room whenever she wants. If the ears and eyes of the kittens start to open, they will move to our livingroom. The little ones will be in a safe play area. This to prevent accidents like falling from the big stairs. the big cats are able to get in and out of the playing area.. But the little ones can't get out. They will, however don't miss anything from the daily household. If the little ones are old enough (5-6 weeks, they will be climbing out their playing area by then) they will be getting access to our home completely.
If the kittens are 5-6 weeks old, they can meet their possible future human friends. Before we think they are much too small and diffucult to make better if they will catch a disdease. In this time we also won't go to any shows..
During this first visit, we will also look if we like you as a future owner of our kittens and if the kittens like you. Therefore we try to plan this first visit in the weekends and only 1 a day. This way everybody has time enough to get to know eachother and you don't have to go because others are allready at the door. You do share those weekends with our friends and family. I stay at home all the time when the kittens are small and might need a hand. So it's common for us to miss birthdays etc. In those weekends, we try to catch up with this. (yes.. friends, we do remind you sometimes ;) )
Because all of this, it's possible we don't have time for you the first weekend you're able to see them..
If this visit is positive from both sides, the kitten can be reserved. Of course you will be getting as much pics and updates as possible. And you're welcome to play and cuddle with your future kitten much more times. This we even strongly suggest and we expect you to come and visit your kitten for at least 1 more time. If the little one regonizes you, the transition to his now home will be easier.
If the kittens are old enough to be neutered/spayed, we will make an appointment to bring them at your home. This will be an appointemt depening of the kitten will be healed again. Kittens with open wounds, we will not move. Moving will be hard enough.. so they can't have open wounds either. So this will take longer for a female kiten than for a male kitten. Why we let our kittens move at 16 weeks.
Our kittens will leave our home when they are at least 16 weeks old.
About this topic there's a lot of discussion going around. According to the Dutch law it's from 8 weeks, according to pedigree organisations it's from 13 weeks. This means catteries who let their kittens move sooner than 13 weeks, aren't able to get pedigrees in the future, cause they aren't compleying to the rules. According to behave experts the kittens have to be at least 16 weeks old.
Our own experiences tells us that 16 weeks is the best age to let the kittens move out. The kittens moving out at that age are much quiker getting on their feet and are easier in getting used to their new houses. The kittens left behind in the cattery and their mom also seem much happier. The mom isn't looking for her kittens so much. I can write a lot about all the investigations about this tpoic, but people have allready donw this ;) Look here for more info. Again the site is dutch, but the investigations and books aren't ;) This all together makes our kittens will leave their home when they are at least 16 weeks old. But of course you're more than welcome to play with them in our home until that time ;)
Gereserveerde kittens.
Ook hier willen wij nogmaals aanstippen dat wij het recht hebben om ten alle tijden de reservatie ongedaan te maken als wij denken dat dit in het belang van het kittentje is. Ook als wij het kittentje komen brengen. Als wij dit doen, hebben wij daar een goede reden voor en dit doen wij altijd in het belang van het kittentje. Zij staan altijd centraal en wij zoeken de best mogelijke huisjes voor ze waar ze gelukkig en oud mogen worden.
Ook kittenkopers mogen hun beslissing terugdraaien. We hebben veel liever dat dit gedaan wordt, dan dat het kittentje ergens terecht komt waar het niet gewenst is. Wel is het zo netjes om ons dit te laten weten. Wij hebben nl geen glazen bol thuis waarin we kunnen zien dat je je bedacht hebt. En ook wij zijn wel zo netjes om te laten weten als we vvan gedachte veranderd zijn.
Visits to our cattery
Of course you can always visit our cattery. Even without there are kittens (so you could make your own opinion about us without little fluffyballs will win your heart.).
BUT .... lately we and some other catterys see a new trent happening.. The so called 'Cattery hoppping'. This means people are visiting multiple catterys in one week or even in 1 day!
Don't get us wrong.. we think it's a good thing you visit multiple catterys to see for yourself which way of working you like and feel happy with. But we're asking you to do this in a smart and sensible way. Without bringing our kittens, pregnant ladies or those of others in danger. Each cattery has his own bioculture, and to this belongs virusses and bacteria. The cats (and kittens) of that cattery are used to those and don't get sick from them. But when you visit multiple catterys in a week of even in 1 day, you help to move those bacteria and virusses to other catteryes, with all the trouble coming with that. Yes.. YOU can make sure kittens of a cattery don't die because of you bringing in a virus.
Because of this, visit multiple catterys but with common sense.
Please only visit 1 cattery a week or -even better- in 2 weeks. (Keep in mind, a cattery forcing you to take a kitten cause they want to 'get rid of it', that's not your cattery. You want to think about this and taken the right decision. A good breeder will understand.. and if you really are interested they will keep a hold on the kitten you love.)
If you come home from a cattery, wash your cloths and DON'T wear them to any other cattery before they are washed
Wash your hands after a cattery visit and before you touch a cat in a cattery.
Take off your shoes with a cattery before you enter.
If you take this advice you will help prevent virusses - or even worse fungus- to get from one cattery to another and you will help keeping those little sweet kittens alive and healthy.
We are sometimes asked if it's possible to bring a dog to our home. Our cats are not used to dogs and we think it's too stressfull for our lactating and pregnant females. So your dog is not welcome. We've placed several kittens in homes with dogs. The time to adjust is a little longer, but people who read about this issue are more than capable to guide this. And we're always there for advice.
We don't have small childeren ourselves. We do, however, advise to bring along your kids with at least 1 visit to us. Just to see how the kittens are handeling this and if the kids and your kitten a getting along. If your kids are old enough, we do expect they know how to handle the cats. (this is never a waste of time for kids to learn if you're planning to get a cat) Hereyou can find some basic info about this. (Unfortunately only in dutch).
Food
Our Raggies are only be given the best possible food. For the pregnant and nursing ladies it's very important to get everything they need, but it's also important for the others. What do we mean by: ' het best possible'?
We mean food thats suitable for a cat and will hold all the cat needs.A cat is a meat eating animal. This means his digestion-tract is also set on meat. Not on grains. His digestion tract is really short, therefore a cat can't digest plants. (also a cat hasn't the bacteria a cow has to break down cellulose). If you look at most catfood boxes you will find grain to be the main ingredient. This can mean 2 things. Or the cat can't break this down and it will come out the ither side ;). Or it's transformed in such a way to cat can absorb these products..But if it's the best for the cats??
We aregiving our cats ras meat every day. also our kittens are weened on raw meat. This means they will be getting whole pray, minced whole animal. But they also will be getting pieces of animal (such as a piece of rabbit). This way they are feeding food they can digest, and they have to chew. And that's better for their teeth :). Also the are getting a lot more fluids than normal (cats aren't big drinkers) and thats a good thing for their kidneys. Our cats like the raw better and their kibble.
But we also have kibble. Our lives can be hectic on days.. and raw feeding takes time and planning. also we can't obligate people to give raw food (but don't think raw food is only whole chicks or rabbits. ;) a simple chickenleg is also fine ;) ). So we think our kittens must 'know it all'. But:We do give our cats a kibble that is free of grain and contains a lot of meat. At this moment we're feeding our cats: Acana. This is for sale in amny internet stores. It's these kind of kibble we advise (besides feeding raw) This will be part of the box the kittens will be taking to their new home.
Haren
De Ragdoll is een halflangharige kat. 2 keer per jaar heeft de Ragdoll een rui periode. 1 keer om zijn prachtige volle wintervacht te krijgen en in de lente trekt hij die volle wintervacht weer uit voor een zomerjasje. Dus ja, de Ragdoll verliest haar. Ook komt het wel eens voor dat je ongelukjes uit het lange broekje van de raggie moet verwijderen. Kun je daar niet tegen, zou ik geen Ragdoll aanschaffen.. (eigenlijk geen enkele kat.. want de sphynx verliest dan geen haar, maar laat overal huidvet achter.. ). Wel kun je het haarverlies met een aantal maatregelen verminderen. Maar: HELEMAAL NIET RUIEN GAAT NIET. ;)
* Kies voor een kwaliteitsvoeding. Goede voeding vermindert haarverlies.
* Borstel niet iedere dag, dat stimuleert het loslaten van het haar. 1 keer per week is voldoende. (wel natuurlijk de klitjes onder de oksels in de gaten houden. Want klitjes trekken aan de huid en doen pijn)
* Gebruik goed gereedschap. GEEN furminator. Je trekt daarmee de haren uit je kat en krijgt kale plekken. Een goede slicker en een kammetje met fijne tanden en weinig ruimte tussen te tanden, zijn voldoende.
*producten: er zijn ook sprays in omloop die ervoor zorgen dat het haar niet statisch wordt en die een ontklittende werking hebben. Zelf gebruiken wij de merken Jerob en Natruly's (dit is een merk met alleen maar natuurlijke ingredienten).
*Knip klitten niet weg! Een kat heeft een heel erg dunne huid! Je knipt dus zo door de huid heen (je zal de eerste niet zijn).. In plaats daarvan kun je voor het klitten verwijderen, bv als de kat niet erg gechameerd is van lang stil zitten om te borstelen, een tornmesje halen. Daarmee kun je zonder je kat pijn te doen voorzichtig te klit lossnijden.
*In de rui periode kan plukken helpen. Informeer je wel eerst hoe je dit het beste kan doen.
Hoe lang de vacht wordt van je Raggie? Kijk naar de ouders. Niet altijd, maar vaak wel geeft dit een goed beeld van hoe je raggie in zijn vacht komt te zitten en hoeveel werk er aan is.
Verder.. wil je een Ragdoll? Zul je de haren erbij moeten nemen.. ;) De haarroller van de ikea doet wonderen voordat je de deur uitmoet ;)
