The cattery
Hello, we (Ilona and Gábor) are a small Ragdoll cattery located in Dordrecht in the province of South-Holland, the Netherlands. I’m raised with cats and really fond of them. After my boyfriend and me saved a kitten he’s fond of cats too.
Our love for Ragdolls started the same as with everybody. You read something about the breed, are looking at kittens, look into their very big blue eyes, get your first Ragdoll. And Bam; in love!
So we are a small cattery and breed because we love the breed. We don’t breed for the money. It only costs money! We breed with a specific goal; breed healthy Ragdolls with the Ragdoll temperament and the Ragdoll size.We also want as dark eyes as possible on our ragdolls and we want to work with the orginal Ann Baker lines. We try to breed pointed, solid and mink and try to do this with the chocolat and lilac colours. Lilac and Chocolat were there from the beginning. This dilute colours unfortunately were mostly bred out of the breed. It's very rare to see a original lilac or chocolat. Most of the lilacs and chocolats today are coming from another breed and/or inbreeding. We try to cross this "new" lines with old lines to bring back to lilac and chocolat, but only in a small scale. In these old lines were looking for new genes for the lilac and chocolat but also the size and profile. We do feel it's very important to make sure there's as little inbreeding as possible to preserve the Ragdoll quality and health.
We also test our cats for HCM, PKD,CIN, FIV and FeLV. We do this in Gent, Belgium with Valerie Bavegems.
Now and then we have a litter kittens available. We do take much time and effort into finding the best possible combination so we can get the best possible quality of kittens. Not only in looks, but also in character. We therefore are thankful we're able to home our own males. Cause nobody nows the animals best as the owner. We do feel it's important the kittens will come into a new home with the same (and maybe even more) love attention and care they are recieving here.
We are a member of TICA Amerika, TICA België and RCB (Ragdollclub BeNeLux).
As catterys owners we all love cats. And taking our responsibility is also an important issue. Sweet kittens, much too young, are dumped almost daily. And we are producing kittens as well, so the dumped kittens have lesser chance to be adopted. The dumped kittens also deserve a fine and loving home. Except our Ragdolls we therefore have one cat from the streets. And we offer him a home until he dies.
So one cat already have a good home and don’t wonder on the streets.
